Stenciled Visions! We loved how this one turned out, a classic compass rose sketched by hand.

Day 8 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: Royal Princess Eloise and Printable Paper Dolls!

 This is the size of a regular parasol, but designed for the little girl in all of us.  We choose to do a princess crown, and it reminds me of Miss Eloise (Moms & Grandmas, you may be familiar with this little rascal from the stories and movies.   Hand painted parasols, we are enjoying this line! Day 7: Geometric Designs on a Parasol, and Accessories that are just Made to Wear!

Well, it looks like I am off to a bad start for blogging this week - I usually post at 8:30 a.m. and now it's 8:30 p.m. !  Yikes, I hope Allison will forgive my tardiness!  Here is another parasol, this time with geometric designs.  I received a few lessons from my sis-in-law on simple shape making with paint.  This will have to be a hurried post, as we are heading home from a wonderful small vacation!

Day 5 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: A Scarlet Cloak and a Place to find Noble Treasures

Normally, I post at 8:30 a.m., but today, we spend our time drifting lazily down the Huron river in shiny canoes.   Here is one of my finished renaissance costumes, obviously, I didn't sew it in day! You can see more of the renaissance http://asweetreminiscence.blogspot.com/2015/07/highland-renaissance-costume-preview.html.  However,  this new scarlet cloak is the perfect accessory!  Lined in a lighter red and trimmed in a tassel tie, this cape is stunning - and huge!  It is almost a foot longer than floor length with a massive hood!

Day 3 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: Icy Fleur de Lis, and a Gal who turns Trash to Treasure!

Well, this is the very first reveal [official reveal] of our new artistic parasol line!

Yes, you are seeing correctly, this is a hand painted Fleur de Lis, painted by my very talented sister-in-law, Abbie. 

She did this freehand, an image from her mind! Stay tuned for more in this series! 

How does this happen?  After Abbie draws the design, I match trim and lace to the colors and general artistic feel of her artwork.  We work off each other's suggestions, and I have to admit, we celebrate when it was completed! Typically, we celebrate by making some crazy, exciting, spicy noodle dish!

I have named this parasol, Truly Scrumptious, after Truly 

in the child's movie "Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang" (a favorite of mine.)
