Day 17 of the 40 Day Challenge: Russian Inspired Artwork and a Amazing Pottery!

Inspired by designs from Russian Folklore Story that I had in childhood, this parasol is my next painting project.  I also decided to cover the top steeple in lace as I wanted the same green lace on the top as on the edges.  I love how dark the foliage is becoming, I can feel autumn coming ~ just around the corner.  And now for our featured guest  - check out this amazing pottery!

Day 11 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: I call it Pistachio Harpsichord and Delectable Soap

Pistachio Harpsichord ~ isn't that a simply lovely idea.

I confess that I was listening to classical, hence the name Harpsichord, but Somehow this design just spoke of music to me.  Once again, Abbie has performed her magic with paint.  I choose a light green lace that matched perfectly.   This time, the steeple tip of this parasol is wrapped in the same lace.  It adds a fancy detail on the top, but as it is fairly difficult to smoothly wrap a tip, I typically don't add the lace wrapped top.   The color of this parasol reminded of the lovely whipped soaps in our featured shop!  And now to present our feature,

Aren't these soaps absolutely delicious looking!  These are so yummy that I instantly craved a shopping spree!  Hand made in Illinois, United States, but you can purchase these easily on Etsy!
What a perfect hostess gift too!

I dream of Jeannie ~ Genie Costume

A costume from Arabian Nights lore, this genie costume was inspired by the retro TV show "I dream of Jeannie."  In the show Jeannie traditionally wears pink, but I had vintage material in blue. A blue genie costume it is.  The costume is trimmed in dangling gold medallions and a large vintage jewel.

How is is made?  Vintage blue curtains & a jewel from a vintage belt.  The lining and gold trim is new, as is the thread of course.

Would love to hear your thoughts!  The pantaloons & headdress are for sale in my store on Etsy.

Ash Tree Meadow Designs Has a New Look

Since it's been almost a year since I have updated, I thought it appropriate to intoduce you to our new look.
The past year has been very eventful, my best friend asked me to marry him and I was very happy to accept his proposal. What I thought would be a brief break turned into a year, as we planned the wedding and relocated.  Will be posting some pictures soon, I didn't make my dress, but I did make my veil.

Glad to be back :)
