Day 12 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: The Medieval Cathedral & Novel Creations

 So, we are very excited today, because within two weeks, I hope to have actual floor space!  Yes, Ash Tree Meadow Designs is planning to set up shop downtown St. Mary's in the new Emporium that has come to town! As you can imagine, this means the hustle and bustle has increased and I am asking myself how I thought I would have time to post each day?  SO GLAD for the featured posts! As I have promised a day to each of my honored guests, and so WILL be posting!  It's great motivation!

Well, this design is a specialty - I call it Medieval Cathedral - it is almost gothic in design. 

The black lace will be appearing often, we found a super deal on it!  But I just love what Abbie has done with latest design! She drew her inspiration from the lace I had chosen. I love how this one turned out, and it goes very nicely with our featured guest's book purses!

Day 11 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: I call it Pistachio Harpsichord and Delectable Soap

 Pistachio Harpsichord ~ isn't that a simply lovely idea.

 

  I confess that I was listening to classical, hence the name Harpsichord, but Somehow this design just spoke of music to me.  Once again, Abbie has performed her magic with paint.  I choose a light green lace that matched perfectly.   This time, the steeple tip of this parasol is wrapped in the same lace.  It adds a fancy detail on the top, but as it is fairly difficult to smoothly wrap a tip, I typically don't add the lace wrapped top.   The color of this parasol reminded of the lovely whipped soaps in our featured shop!  And now to present our feature,

Day 10 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: Mike the Monster and a Free Invoicing Service!

Monster's Inc Inspired Umbrella

This week I shipped a different kind of parasol - a horned umbrella.  This was perhaps the most difficult item I have ever made!  This was a custom design request from a customer on Etsy.  She wanted something subtle, but something that still said Monster's Inc.  She specifically asked for a green umbrella with horns, specifying that she was aiming for the friendly monster, Mike.

The challenge was really adding horns that would close and stand up.  And this was a huge challenge.  In order to properly create the effect, I chose to use wire and parachute fabric.  Typically, my parasols are made from EVA plastic, however, in this case plastic just wasn't durable enough.It is still a very delicate umbrella, but I love how it turned out.  
I think Mike agrees with me, don't you?  :)

Day 8 of the 40 Day Design Challenge: Royal Princess Eloise and Printable Paper Dolls!

 This is the size of a regular parasol, but designed for the little girl in all of us.  We choose to do a princess crown, and it reminds me of Miss Eloise (Moms & Grandmas, you may be familiar with this little rascal from the stories and movies.   Hand painted parasols, we are enjoying this line! Day 7: Geometric Designs on a Parasol, and Accessories that are just Made to Wear!

Well, it looks like I am off to a bad start for blogging this week - I usually post at 8:30 a.m. and now it's 8:30 p.m. !  Yikes, I hope Allison will forgive my tardiness!  Here is another parasol, this time with geometric designs.  I received a few lessons from my sis-in-law on simple shape making with paint.
